You run reviews for your clients every quarter. You sit them down, look honestly at where things stand, and decide what to change. Almost no advisor does the same thing for their own practice.
We are halfway through the year. This is the most useful moment to stop and look at what the first six months are actually telling you, while there is still time to change the second half.
There is no partner forcing you to do this. No external deadline. That is exactly why it slides until December arrives and you wonder where the year went. The advisors who finish strong are the ones who pause now.
Try five honest questions. None of them are about revenue.
Which of your top clients have you not had a real conversation with in ninety days? You know who they are. Make the list.
What conversations have you been avoiding inside your own firm? The feedback you keep deferring. The hire you know you need to make.
Who is referring you right now, and who is not? Look for the pattern in the ones who do.
What are you doing that is not moving the firm forward? The standing meeting that should be an email. The commitment you keep out of habit.
And what would your best client say they actually need from you in the second half of the year? Most advisors guess. The ones who ask are usually surprised.
The point is not to feel bad about the first half. It is to choose a small number of changes you can actually carry through to December. Block two hours, use paper, and be honest rather than impressive. Then pick three things to change and start this week.
The harder part is building a practice where these questions get answered by design, not once a year when you finally make the time. That is the work we do at Dream Architect Life.
